In the early 1900s, people began building houses in the area. People came from all over the country to purchase land in the region.

In the years that followed, people built homes and businesses in the vicinity. Four sawmills were nearby. When a train came through, people would leave their horses in the livery stables.

Livestock were also loaded onto cars for shipment to eastern markets. These would be taken to Campbellsville and sold there. If a large herd was being driven to Campbellsville, the cattle would be driven through Ethridge.
