The Recipe

Grandma Yoder’s Vintage Cabbage Rolls are a labor of love that showcase the essence of Amish cooking. The recipe begins with tender cabbage leaves, carefully separated and blanched to achieve just the right balance between tenderness and structure. The filling, a combination of ground beef, rice, and aromatic spices, is a blend of flavors that evoke memories of family gatherings and shared meals.

Assembling the cabbage rolls is an art form in itself. Each leaf is gently wrapped around a portion of the filling, creating neat and compact parcels that are then nestled together in a baking dish. The crowning touch is a savory tomato sauce, which infuses the rolls with a rich, tangy flavor as they bake to perfection.
